New Delhi: The DMRC will provide a compensation of Rs 15 lakh to the next of kin of a woman passenger who died. accident at a Metro station recently, officials said Wednesday.
DMRC said in a statement that the incident took place on December 14 at Andarlok Metro station where prima facie it appears that the passenger’s clothes got caught in the train, resulting in injuries and death. Done, DMRC said in a statement.
The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) is investigating the incident.
As per the provisions of the Metro Railway (Claims Procedure) Rules, 2017, a compensation of Rs 5 lakh will be paid to the next of kin of the deceased, the statement said.
“Also, an additional amount of Rs 10 lakh will be provided as humanitarian aid to the children of the deceased. As both the children are minors, the DMRC is currently engaged in sorting out the children. . legal Ways to hand over the money to the legal heir,” he said.
Apart from this, the DMRC will also take care of the education of the two children, the civic transporter said.
A team of senior officials has been deputed by DMRC to look into the matter so that all the requirements can be met expeditiously.
Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri has also directed that care and education of children should be ensured. Delhi Metro administration, the statement said.
