Indore: The School Education Department of Madhya Pradesh has revised the winter vacation schedule in government schools for this academic year. Traditionally, the winter holidays, spanning from Christmas to New Year’s, have been rearranged to start the new year, with schools closing their doors from 31 December 2023 to 4 January 2024.
The adjustment has caught many students and parents off guard, as winter break has long been associated with the festive season. This decision has come at a time when the teachers are currently busy completing the process of checking the answer sheets of the mid-term examinations of the academic year.
The winter season which used to be around 25th December is now shifted to the first week of January thus the school education department has shifted the winter vacation of government schools to the first week of January. Mangalesh VyasIndore District Education Officer.
While the change in the holiday schedule has drawn mixed reactions, with some expressing dismay at the departure from tradition, others see it as a fresh start to the year. Public school officials are gearing up for the holiday season, making sure students and staff can make the most of the adjusted winter break.
The teachers of the school are engaged in the final phase of the evaluation work for the mid-term examinations, for which the last date was fixed on December 22. Government schools in the district are already witnessing low attendance in classes this week after the Christmas break in December. 25.
