 VHP invites BJP pioneers Advani and Joshi for Ram Temple Consecration | India News - Times of India

New Delhi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Tuesday extended invitations to former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani and the Union Minister Murali Manohar Joshi For the coming great consecration of the Ram Mandir Ayodhya next month. The invitation comes in the wake of the temple trust advising two prominent Bharatiya Janata Party figures against attending the consecration ceremony due to age and health.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) president Alok Kumar said the two BJP elders said they would try their best to attend the January 22 event.
“The pioneers of the Ram temple movement, Advaniji and Murali Manohar Joshiji have been invited to attend the consecration ceremony. Both of them said they would try their best to attend,” the VHP quoted the president as saying. Alok Kumar is saying on X.
Advani, aged 96, and Joshi, who will celebrate his 90th birthday next month, played important roles in the Ram temple movement. The movement eventually culminated in a landmark judgment by the Supreme Court on November 9, 2019, which favored the Hindu side in the long-running title dispute case.
The court ordered that the disputed land be allotted to a trust for the construction of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple. Additionally, the court ordered the Muslim side to provide five acres of land as compensation for the construction of the mosque.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra said,
“Both (Singhs) are elders in the family and considering their age, they have been requested not to come (to Ayodhya for the consecration ceremony). Both have accepted our request.”
PM Modi is scheduled to attend the placement of Ram Lalla’s idol at the magnificent temple on January 22. Elaborate preparations are underway for this momentous occasion, which is expected to attract dignitaries and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Champat Roy said that a total of 13 Akharas, including 150 sages and saints of various traditions and Shankaracharyas of six philosophical traditions, will participate in this grand event. He said that about four thousand Saints have been invited in the program. Apart from this, invitations have been sent to 2200 other guests.
He further informed that heads of major temples like Kashi Vishwanath and Vishnu Devi and representatives of religious and constitutional bodies have also been invited.
“Spiritual guru Dalai Lama, Mata Amrita Nanda Mai of Kerala, yoga guru Baba Ramdev, actors Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Arun Goval (who played Lord Rama in the television series ‘Ramayan’), Filmmaker Madhar Bhandarkar and renowned industrialist Madhur, Mumbai. Anil Ambani, famous painter Vasudev Kamat, ISRO director Nilesh Desai and several other eminent personalities will also be present at the consecration ceremony. “After the consecration ceremony, Mandal Pooja 24 January to 48 days, as per North Indian tradition.
Along with this, common people will be able to have darshan of Lord Ram from January 23. Adequate arrangements have been made for the accommodation of guests at more than three places in Ayodhya… 600 rooms have been made available by various monasteries, temples and households and Bhandars will also become the norm from December 25 at three key locations. will Rai added.
