The al-Qaeda News television channel, which is linked to state intelligence, said the explosions occurred about two kilometers (1.2 miles) from the Egyptian coastal town of Zahab.
Dahab is located at the southern tip of Israel, about 125 kilometers (75 miles) south of Eilat, the nearest target of the Yemeni rebels.
“We heard a loud explosion coming from the direction of the sea, and then we saw a strange object falling into the water,” an eyewitness told AFP.
No casualty is reported.
According to the Pentagon, the Houthis have carried out more than 100 drone and missile strikes, targeting 10 commercial vessels from more than 35 different countries.
The attacks threaten a transit route that carries 12 percent of global trade, prompting the United States to establish a multinational maritime task force to protect Red Sea shipping.
The Houthis have also launched a series of attacks on Israel, but most have failed to hit their targets.
