New Delhi: Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is scheduled to meet senior BJP leaders including the Home Minister. Amit Shahparty president JP Nadda and other senior leaders in the next two days, during their first visit to the national capital after forming the government in their state.
“BJP chief Nadda has called for a meeting and I will go to meet him,” said the four-time chief minister, who arrived in Delhi on Monday. Chauhan’s visit is highly significant as he recently said he would “prefer to die”. Going to Delhi looking for a post
He also said that whatever role the party decides for him, he will work accordingly. “I have always said that BJP is a mission and when you work in a mission, you don’t decide, the mission decides for you. Whatever the party decides, I will work for it. There are some topics like environment, women empowerment and child welfare, these are my favorite issues and I will continue to work for them wholeheartedly,” Chauhan said.
Chauhan and other elected legislators took oath on Monday after which they also said that they have full faith in Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and the state will reach new heights of growth and development.
“I am proud and self-satisfied that I served the people as the Chief Minister for almost 17 years. Be it development or public welfare, I was able to do good things. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, more than me. Work should be done,” Chauhan told reporters.
The BJP leader said the target now is to win all 29 Lok Sabha seats in next year’s elections.
After the BJP won the assembly elections with a two-thirds majority on December 3, Chauhan refused to go to Delhi. While all other senior leaders and chief ministerial aspirants – including Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Prahalad Singh Patel, BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, state BJP president VD Sharma and some former Madhya Pradesh Cabinet ministers camped in Delhi to meet BJP. Patal remained in the Chauhan state.
