Sacked Cong leader Nirupam alleges Sanjay Raut kingpin of Khichdi scam; Shiv Sena (UBT) hit backs | India News - Times of India

New Delhi: Dismissed Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam Monday alleged that Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Rawat was the king ofKhichdi scam“in which money was looted to feed poor migrants during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Nirupam claimed that Raut took bribes from the accused company Sahyadri Refreshments through his family members and business partners and Demanded that the Enforcement Directorate should arrest such people.
Shiv Sena (UBT) accused Nirupam of tarnishing the image of Uddhav Thackeray’s party and questioned why the sacked Congress leader remained silent for 4 years. Tried to spoil the image of people by putting the family first.
Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey said: “They are deliberately trying to malign the image of our leaders like Amul Kartikar and Sanjay Raut when Mumbai goes to polls on May 20. Old The problem is when Congress threw him out and he was roaming around for a ticket, he asked every party for it and when nothing seemed to work, now he is plotting to tarnish the image of Shiv Sena.
Nirupam was expelled by the Congress late last week after he launched an all-out attack on the party’s top leadership for handing over the Mumbai seats to Maha Vikas Aghadi’s ally Shiv Sena (UBT).
Accusing Sanjay Rawat of masterminding the scam, Nirupam said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had given 300 grams of ‘300 grams’ at Rs 35 per plate to stranded migrants at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. The contract was given to supply ‘Khichdi’.
“In return, Sahyadri Refreshments sub-contracted another party to provide 100 grams of ‘khichdi’ at Rs 16 per plate. This meant that 200 grams of ‘khichdi’ would be given to the poor, stranded, migrants. “It was ‘stolen’ by Sanjay Raut and his partners,” claimed Nirupam.
Several checks issued by Sahyadri Refreshments, amounting to around Rs 1 crore, were deposited in the bank accounts of Rawat’s daughter and his brother as well as a business partner on various dates between May 2020 and January 2021, Nirupam said. .
