Lok Sabha elections: BJP is going to be No. 1 party in West Bengal, says Prashant Kishor | India News - Times of India

New Delhi: BJP may be ousted. Mamata BanerjeeOf Trinamool Congress According to the political strategy to become the number 1 party in West Bengal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections Prashant Kishor. In a chat with PTI editors, Kishore said: “You’d be surprised because, in all likelihood, in my mind, the BJP is going to be the number one party in West Bengal.”
The political strategist also predicted that BJP will become the number 1 party in Odisha and the first or second party in Telangana.
Prashant Kishor claimed that the saffron party would significantly increase its seats and vote share in South and East India in these elections and win more than 300 Lok Sabha seats. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 303 seats and this time Prime Minister Modi has set a target of 370 seats for the saffron party.
Last week, in a virtual interaction with BJP workers from West Bengal, Prime Minister Modi had said that he is confident of winning more seats this time.
The BJP has made significant inroads in West Bengal and has been able to significantly increase the party’s vote share in the state. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP was only 3 percent behind the ruling Trinamool Congress’ vote share in the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP’s vote share in the Lok Sabha elections increased impressively as it increased from 16.84 percent in 2014 to 40.25 percent in 2019. The saffron party won 18 Lok Sabha seats, a huge jump from its tally of just 2 seats in 2014. Trinamool, on the other hand, reduced its number of seats to 22 from 34 in 2014.

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha battle, the BJP got a big boost in the state when the saffron party increased its tally from 3 to 77 in the state assembly. The BJP campaigned very aggressively against Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool government. Although the saffron party failed to unseat Mamata, it managed to replace the Left and the Congress as the main opposition parties in the state. The Congress and the Left parties, which contested in alliance, failed to open their accounts. The BJP’s vote share in assembly elections increased from 10.16 percent in 2016 to around 38 percent in 2021.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the BJP is trying hard to increase its numbers in the state. Before the election dates were announced by the Election Commission, the prime minister had addressed four rallies in West Bengal – the first in Arambagh in Hooghly district, the second in Krishnanagar in Nadia district, the third in Barasat in North 24 Parganas. , and the fourth rally. in Siliguri of Darjeeling district.
We will have to wait till June 4 to know if Prashant Kishor’s predictions come true.
