 Indian Navy closely monitoring situation in Arabian Sea after suspected drone attack | India News - Times of India

The ship with 22 crew members (21 Indians and one Vietnamese) was reported to have caught fire around 7:45 am on December 23 after being hit by a projectile, believed to be a missile or drone.
Responding quickly to the developing situation, the Indian Navy diverted maritime patrol aircraft operating in the area for routine surveillance. The Indian Navy also diverted the Indian Navy ship Mormugao to assess the situation and provide support to the MT Cam Pluto.
A Navy maritime patrol aircraft overran MTCAM Pluto at 1:15 p.m. on December 23 and made contact with the crew. All 22 crew members are safe and the fire has been brought under control, the crew said. The Ministry said that the Navy also apprised all Indian naval agencies of the details of the developing situation to provide necessary assistance.
The Indian Navy vessel Mormugao communicated with MTCAM Pluto at 7:30 pm on 23 December to ascertain if any assistance was required. CGS Vikram, who was also present at the spot, was directed to take the ship to Mumbai.
Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts will dispatch MV Chem Pluto on arrival in Mumbai to clean the vessel and conduct further investigations.
The Ministry added that the Indian Navy is closely monitoring the situation with all stakeholders and is committed to ensuring the safety of merchant shipping in the region. (ANI)
