Rain forced the cancellation of both teams’ outdoor training sessions on Monday, with the pitch and square remaining under cover.

Accuweather’s forecast for Tuesday at the time of this report is “mainly cloudy with occasional showers and thunderstorms” with 7.7 mm of rain forecast in the morning and 6.6 mm in the afternoon, and throughout the day. Clouds are 65% or more, expected to increase to 96% by evening.

Considered the ‘Final Frontier’ as India have yet to win a Test series in South Africa, the assignment also holds significance as part of the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
For India, this is their second series in the WTC cycle while for the Proteas it is their campaign debut.

Led by Rohit Sharma, India are currently atop the WTC leaderboard — thanks to the team’s 2-0 win over the West Indies and Pakistan’s defeat in the first Test against Australia.
