Health minister's car hit by decoy vehicle; PA suffers minor injuries | Kolhapur News - Times of India

Kolhapur: Official Vehicle of State Health Minister, Tanaji SawantAn accident occurred on Sunday afternoon when a vehicle in his convoy hit him from behind. Panhala Road.
The minister, who was on his way to the Jyotiba temple at the time, was not injured though his personal assistant suffered a minor knee injury.
Sawant was on a one-day visit to Kolhapur. Earlier in the day, he inaugurated the 50-bed sub-district hospital at Gargoti, and then went to Kolhapur city to visit the Mahalakshmi temple. Later he left for the Jyotiba temple.
According to the police, the driver of the decoy vehicle lost control and hit the minister’s car. Sawant told police officials that he suffered a severe shock, but was unharmed. Driver and passenger side airbags were deployed.
The police inspector of the local crime branch, also identified as Tanaji Sawant, told reporters that the minister left for his destination in another car. After his Jyotiba temple visit, the minister flew back to Mumbai.
According to health department officials, Sawant’s personal assistant has injured his knee. The minister’s aides traveling with him were worried as there was no ambulance in the convoy.
“We had requested an ambulance in the convoy, however, it was not provided. We don’t know why,” another aide said, adding that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had Called Sawant to check his health.
