Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court Directed to Uttar Gujarat Vij Company LimitedUGVCL), a power distribution firm, to restore electricity Within 48 hours in a bungalow that is home to two orphans.
In December 2023, the firm disconnected the electricity supply to the house at the request of Kiran Parekh, the registered owner of the connection, who also claims ownership of the property.
It happened when 15-year-old Janvi Rajput was preparing for her board exams. The bigger of the two orphanShe lives at home with her four-year-old sister Krishna and recently with her paternal grandmother Bhanu. The grandmother and sisters moved the High Court seeking directions to the firm to restore the connection.
On February 18, a few days after filing the petition, Bhanu died, leaving the children in the care of their maternal uncle. The High Court heard the petition after a month. The firm restored power but by then Janvi’s exams were over.
