False engine fire alarm: Air India flight declares May Day while landing Mumbai; touches down safely - Times of India

New Delhi: One Air India A Delhi-Mumbai flight on Wednesday declared an emergency before landing after an engine fire was found on one of the two CFM engines powering the Airbus A320neo.
The pilots announced. May Dayand informed the Mumbai Air Traffic Control. Fortunately the aircraft landed safely and uneventfully in Mumbai at 1.10 am and has now been grounded there for testing. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation is investigating this latest engine scare.
AI 814 operated from Delhi to Mumbai on December 19, 2023, experienced a fire warning indication on one of its engines. As a precaution, a state of emergency was declared and air traffic control was notified. An Air India spokesperson said the flight landed uneventfully and an inspection found no signs of fire or smoke.
The warning came on the aircraft (VT-CIH) just as it was scheduled to land in Mumbai. As per protocol, the fire extinguishers were discharged and then an emergency was declared. Sources say it was probably one. False alarm As at the check post landing, there were no signs of fire or smoke.
