Vijay Sethupathi And Katrina Kaif The starMerry Christmas‘ is one of the most anticipated films of 2024. The film’s director Sri Ram Raghavan shared an interesting anecdote about the casting of the film.
In a recent interview, Sriram revealed that he was very happy to cast Vijay Sethupathi in the project, but earlier, there was another actor who had expressed interest in the role of Vijay. He confirmed that the actor was Saif Ali Khan. However, the director did not cast Saif as he wanted something new and fresh.
Sriram told Pinkvilla that he wanted a unique pairing in the film, and that the story required it. The director was particular about people not getting any props from his actors. After finalizing Katrina in the lead role, they approached Saif for the male role, but later felt it would not be the best choice. After that he approached other actors too but he has already shared the screen with the actress.
Sriram and Saif have done films like ‘Ek Haseena Thi’ and ‘Agent Vinod’ and the director remembers how sad Saif was when he didn’t get the part.

Answering how he found Vijay as his hero, the director replied that he met Vijay at an event in Melbourne, and on the way saw Vijay Sethupathi’s 2018 film ’96’. The director recalled an incident when he asked Vijay whether he spoke Hindi or not, he replied as if he had worked in Dubai for three years.

Sriram revealed that he is excited to see the on-screen magic of Vijay and Katrina Kaif. ‘Merry Christmas’ will release on January 12 in Hindi and Tamil.
