Delhi-NCR air pollution: Non-essential construction work, polluting four-wheelers banned | Delhi News - Times of India

The central government has banned non-essential construction work and plying of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers in Delhi-NCR due to deteriorating air quality. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) attributed the rise in Delhi’s air quality to unfavorable climatic conditions. Delhi’s overall AQI has reached 409, prompting restrictions on construction, stone crushing, and mining. However, exemptions are granted for construction works related to national security, healthcare and transportation. The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) classifies actions based on AQI, with Phase III being ‘Severe’.
