CSK vs KKR, IPL 2024 highlights: Ravindra Jadeja three-fer, Ruturaj Gaikwad fifty bring Chennai Super Kings back to winning ways | Cricket News - Times of India

New Delhi: Ravindra Jadeja Showcasing their prowess on the Chepauk pitch, Chennai Super Kings regained their winning form with an easy seven-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in Monday’s IPL clash.
The victory marked CSK’s third win in five matches, all at Chepauk, after losing two straight at home.
Jadeja, whose spin bowling has been subdued in recent seasons, dominated with three wickets in just eight balls, effectively decimating KKR’s batting line-up. KKR struggled to a total of 137 for 9 at a level where scoring freely proved difficult.

In pursuit, Captain Rituraj Gaikwadscored 67 runs off 58 balls, supported by Daryl Mitchell (25 off 19 balls) and the in-form Shiv Dubey (28 off 18 balls). CSK achieved the target in 17.4 overs without any difficulty.
Importantly, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was at the crease when he sealed the victory with the winning runs.

This match was a typical one from the KKR playbook, where they always square with their spinners at a level where the ball is caught and then their top order controls the chase, which on Monday As is within manageable limits.

Earlier, Jadeja worked his magic, tearing the heart out of KKR’s batting.

After losing back-to-back games on the road, CSK were back in their element on a familiar Chepauk turf where the ball held and Jadeja (3/18 in 4 overs) and Mahesh Theksana (1/28 in 4 overs) were absolutely brilliant. . along both their line and length. While KKR lost Phil Salt (0) cheaply on the first delivery, Sunil Narine (27 off 20 balls) and youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi (24 off 18 balls) continued from where they left off against DC. Departed, switching arms and adding 56 in the powerplay. But once the spinners came into play, it all fell apart.

With the ball caught and not on the bat, Narine’s lofted shot was hidden in the deep and Raghuvanshi’s inexperience proved to be his undoing as he played an indiscriminate reverse sweep on a straight delivery.

Venkatesh Iyer (3) was ill at ease against Thikshina, who got his mojo back after hitting two sixes in his first over and then Jadeja got his man, looking to get out hard.
With three wickets in eight balls, Jadeja looked to be decisively swinging the momentum in CSK’s favour.
Shreyas Iyer (34 off 32 balls) never got going and Rinko Singh (9 off 14 balls) and Andre Russell (10 off 10 balls) couldn’t get going as Kenny Mustafizur Rahman (2/22). Tushar Deshpande (3/33) were fantastic at the death.
The KKR batsmen tried to go hammer and tongs but the moment Jadeja came in after the powerplay, suddenly it seemed the momentum was gone.
Both accelerated the balls and bowled wide lines which were out of the hitting range of both finishers. Catching in the deep was also at the fore for CSK as the KKR batsmen had a forgettable day at the office.
