Crime rate in Tirupati decreases by 15% in 2023 | Amaravati News - Times of India

Briefing reporters on year-end crime figures in Tirupati on Friday, SPP Parameshwar Reddy observed that physical Crimes From 710 cases registered in 2022, this year the number has reduced to 687. Similarly, 55 murder cases were registered in 2022, only 37 murder cases were registered this year.
Tirupati SP noted that property crimes have also come down to 987 cases this year as against 1047 cases registered last year.
Meanwhile, property recovery increased to 72 percent this year as against 66 percent recovery reported last year.
Parameshwar Reddy maintained that the district police wing has also taken strict action against the menace of ganja smuggling. Around 416 people were arrested in 105 cases of ganja smuggling this year and around 1220 kg of the contraband worth around Rs 1.63 crore was seized.
The district police wing also kept a close watch on the smuggling activities of Red Sanders by arresting 76 smugglers in 15 cases. In the last one year, the police seized 34 vehicles and 975 red sander logs worth Rs 9.75 crore.
And as part of the newly launched mobile hunt services, the district police wing has recovered around 1750 stolen/lost mobile phones worth around Rs 3.15 crore in 2023.
Observing that regular attendance at VVIP Bandobast duty in Tirumala and Tirupati besides reducing the overall crime rate is a commendable performance, Parameshwar Reddy has been awarded the districtwide award for best performance in 2023. Appreciated the police force.
