Officials said the security forces are catching up with the Maoists and are making rapid inroads into their core areas. Establishment of new police camps in interior areas is also being expedited.
Meanwhile, five Maoist The cadres — who were allegedly involved in 32 incidents of attacks, arson and planting of IEDs on security forces — have surrendered to the Bijapur police, citing bigotry and carelessness in the rebel ranks. They belong to Gangalur and Bhiramgarh area committees and will be rehabilitated under the state’s surrender policy.
