Brain dead man gives new lease of life to four patients in TN | Chennai News - Times of India

Madurai: Organs of a 48-year-old man Brain dead man Four patients were given a new lease of life in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
Natarajan, an electrician in Surkalam village in Shivaganga district, suffered a stroke two months ago. On Tuesday evening, while he was walking, he lost his balance, fell on the road and suffered head injuries.
He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later rushed to a hospital where his condition worsened. Meenakshi Mission Hospital Doctors in Madurai on Thursday morning confirmed him to be brain dead.
The medical team obtained consent for organ donation from Natarajan’s wife Bharti and family members.
Doctors harvested his liver, kidney and cornea. One kidney and one liver transplant were performed in two patients at the same hospital. The second kidney was allotted to a patient at Jadayia Steve Hospital in Karaikudi while his two corneas were taken to Arvind Eye Hospital.
The medical team at Meenakshi Mission Hospital paid their last respects and handed over the body to their family members. His funeral prayer was performed with official honors.
