Bhopal: Students assaulted on university campus | Bhopal News - Times of India

Bhopal: A group of students allegedly attacked and injured students of another department. RGPV Campus Friday in Gandhinagar. They also attacked a local contractor, who had gone to drink tea at a kiosk outside the campus. Acting on a complaint filed by a 21-year-old engineering student, the Gandhinagar police registered a case of assault and started an investigation.
The complainant, a 21-year-old student, hails from Seoni district, police said. He lives on rent in Ayodhya Extension Colony. He is a 4th year student of Automobile Engineering at RGPV. He said in his complaint that on Friday afternoon, when he was coming out of the college building with his two friends after writing the exam paper, two students stopped him and asked him about his batchmate. When they told them that they did not know where he was, the accused started abusing them.
When he objected, the accused took off his belt and started assaulting him. He suffered a head injury. When his friends intervened, the accused came out of the university gate and attacked Nadeem Khan, who worked as a contractor in the IT park. Nadeem had come to drink tea at a kiosk outside the university. Nadeem suffered head injuries. The student then reported the matter to the Gandhinagar police. A case has been registered against the two students and further investigation is underway.
Police say that the incident is the result of rivalry between two student groups. After the incident, the members of the student body protested.
