Apple updates iPhone’s satellite system with a new roadside assistance option | - Times of India

Apple launched the Emergency SOS via satellite feature for its iPhone 14 users in 2022. This feature was retained for this year. iPhone Available in 15 models and multiple markets including the US, UK and Canada. The Cupertino-based tech giant has now updated the feature with support for a new Roadside assistance option. With this update, iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 users can now access it. In a support page (seen by MacRumors ), Apple confirmed that devices running iOS 17.2 (or higher) and Verizon SIM cards can take advantage of the latest capability.
Verizon’s roadside assistance program is operated through ownership of Allstate. Signature Motor Club. It provides assistance whenever customers face car problems and also covers a friend’s car and rental vehicles.
The program includes vehicle towing up to 10 miles in any direction, vehicle winching, fuel delivery, jump start, tire service and more. While Verizon offers a $4.99 monthly subscription for the service, it also offers a flat fee for customers who use the service without a subscription.
Partnership with Apple AAA
In September, Apple introduced a satellite roadside assistance service in partnership with AAA. This service allows users to get help in an area where there is no mobile connectivity.

The company is offering two years of free service plus its Emergency SOS feature, which is available with the new iPhone 14 or iPhone 15.
However, customers will have to pay the bill for any roadside service if they are not AAA members. The latest addition to Verizon’s roadside assistance program could add more service options for customers who are stranded in a remote area or don’t have AAA.
