Megastar Amitabh Bachchan shared a story about the veteran actress. Helenand talked about how she escaped the Japanese occupation of Burma in 1943 and came to India during World War II.
Helen is a famous dancer and known for her roles. Born in Rangoon, Burma (now known as Myanmar),
Helen’s family traveled to Dibrugarh, Assam in 1943 to escape the Japanese occupation of Burma.
Later, Helen got her big break in 1958 at the age of 19, when she performed on the song ‘Mera Naam Chin Chin Cho’ from the film ‘Howrah Bridge’.

The options given were — Slochana, Surya, Nadira, and Helen. The correct answer was Helen.
However, Lalit was not sure about the answer, so he decided to leave the show, and took the price of Rs 12,50,000.
Amitabh then said, “Helen and her family escaped from Myanmar…then called Burma. To escape and come to India, they crossed miles of wilderness, crossing rivers, mountains and forests. He had to travel on foot in 1943 to escape the Japanese occupation of Burma.
“She has become a popular actress in our film industry. One will be mesmerized watching her dance,” shared the ‘Brahmastra’ actor.
Helen has shared the screen with Big B in films like ‘Mohbatin’, ‘Don’, ‘Shalay’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, ‘The Great Gambler’ and ‘Ram Balaram’.
