KALYAN: Electricity earthing wires worth Rs 15 lakh have been stolen from all 13 newly constructed buildings of MHADA in Khoni village of Kalyan taluk.
Acting on the complaint of the contractor, MHADA has registered a case of theft against unknown persons and investigation is on.
Mehda has constructed several buildings in Khoni for the economically weaker sections of the society under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and some of them have been allotted through lottery while some are ready to move.
The incident came to light this week when the staff of a construction company constructing the building on behalf of MHADA noticed that a PVC pipeline caught fire in the duct area of ​​all 13 buildings and inside it. The installed earthing wires were stolen.
The crew later consulted the electrical contractor who had installed the wiring and found that wiring worth Rs 15 lakh had been stolen.
The staff later, after consulting senior company officials, eventually contacted the local Manpada police, who registered an FIR against the unidentified person.
A senior police official said they are examining the CCTV footage of the buildings and also interrogating the staff working to identify the culprits.
Sources said that from these buildings… Wiring theft were ready and MHADA was planning to issue a lottery for it.
