Traffic diversions have been put in place, such as redirecting vehicles from Tehri Bus Stand via Landore and South Road and guiding traffic from Library to Picture Palace via Upper Mall Road.
The Traffic Department has issued an advisory outlining the route for the carnival as Kangraig-Picture Palace-MDDA Parking-Town Hall. Vehicular traffic is expected to be restricted on Mall Road due to food stalls and tents set up for the four-day Winter Line Carnival.
“To ensure smooth traffic flow, we have arranged for on-road parking and deployed several teams. Mobile traffic units, towing cranes, and vehicle clamping will be deployed across the city,” Sarvesh Panwar said. , Superintendent of Police, Traffic said.
To regulate traffic on the Rajpur Road, dedicated vehicular routes have been drawn up from Delhi to Mussoorie and Haridwar and Rishikesh. Barrier points at places like Cuthal Gate, Missouri Diversion, Dalaram Chowk, and Clock Tower will monitor drunk or reckless drivers.
However, the locals of the city are cautious. “The influx of tourists has slowed down the movement of the city. Traffic signals don’t work, illegal roadside parking, and encroachments obstruct the turns. It will be difficult to get out next week,” said a resident.
